Christmas

This month has already been insanely busy, so I don't know how many Christmas books I'll have time to list.  But here's a start.

Jan Pienkowski 1984

Incredible illustrations for the Christmas story told from the King James. They're like a medieval miracle play in silhouette.

  1. I have been looking for this book for years. My family had a copy of it when I was a child and I must have spent a long time studying the pages because they were printed in my memory despite my having a condition which has caused me to have very few memories of my past at all. Finding your pictures here has made me so happy to see it again. It's like evidence that I did have a childhood. Thanks for posting it!

    1. Yes. Like Katie said there are many splendid works by Jan Pienkowski that follows a similar style, but I believe the book you might be looking for is 'Easter'- the companion edition of 'The First Christmas' that depict the narrative of Easter, accompanied by verses from 'The King James Bible'.

  3. I'm glad these brought back some good memories for you! The artist Jan Pienkowski has made other silhouette books. The Thousand Nights, Fairy Tales, and The Kingdom Under the Sea are ones that we have. The artwork in all of them is amazing. Maybe these are what you're thinking of?
